Doing helper's quests for Lake in Dusk need some strategic planning. Out of the 10 quests available, I might have to give up 5, if not, I would need a minimum of 45 dungeon entry tickets. Which is a killer. The maximum number of 5 quests at any time is a restraint too.

Do-able ones (should be doing 5 out of 6):
- Quest No.37 - 20 Jidarsch
- Quest No.38 - 20 Fashik
- Quest No.39 - 20 Ballu
- Quest No.41 - 20 Hauk
- Quest No.42 - 20 Ergdusu
- Quest No.46 - 10 Zigdris Faello

Except for Quest.46 which gives 5k honor points, the rest give 3k with additional high upgrade core.

After ignoring my quests for grinding, last week was payback time trying to catch up on the more important quests. Normally I would just click next without bothering to read much, but a couple of days ago, I was stuck with good old Captain Mark just because I couldn't decide which nation to opt for. Zero, whose level was ahead of mine was much more of a slacker than me, so I was the first in our 8-men guild to face the dilemma of choosing a side to belong to.

I was in the quest room for a good hour and annoyed almost everyone in guild with constant "how how how, which one to choose!". Finally, the decision was to go for Capella. We all agreed that it sounds a lot better than Procyon. Female leader rules too. Ha ha.

I am now a Capella(n); Procyon-ians, see you guys in War channel. Rawr.

Whoever did the translation and proof-read for CabalSea need to be singled out and shot. Granted, I should have taken the initiatives to do a spell check but it didn't occur to me that the name would be taken from a character in Greek mythology. Zero was asking for a guild's name and since I was doing the "Prometeus" quest and coupled that with a lack of originality, suggested using it. The worse thing is, there is another guild with the correct name running around. Bummer.

I saw this formula someone posted in the forum but I can't vouch for it's accuracy.

Formula to calculate Skill XP:
(Taken from here, credit goes to ToonXW)

For punching, one can gain 3 Sword/Magic points. Adept will not affect the overall experience gained from punching or using normal attacks.

Casting an attack skill:
"Cast time of skills" * 12 = gained Skill XP

Casting a buff skill:
"Cast time of buff" * 3,6 = gained Skill XP
3 for some buffs and 6 for others.

Adept items just adds to the skill xp. Maximum bonus skill exp is 36. The maximum skill exp you may gain from adept is therefore 36.

Example:

Force Archer Skill "Power Shot" at level 9
Casting time: 1.3 Sec.
Used equipment:
Board +4
Citrine Crystals +8
Adept Rings + Amulet (Level 80 Items) +20
Adept Aramid Battle Suit +4
(all in all +36 Skill XP)

Calculating:
"Casting time" * 12 = 15.6
15.6 + "Skill XP Items" (36 Skill XP) = 51.6 Skill XP

A drop of 11k in honor points, for initiating a second pk after my first one. I wasn't too worried till I read that honor points are used/needed for crafting. Oh well. Time to keep a lookout for glory potions or plates of honors!

CabalSea: An update

Zero and me in our adept armors, Shadowsteel Armorset and Aramid Battleset. These sets are very useful in leveling skill points. (Talking about skill points, I was punching pantherhorn zombies last weekend to up my sword skill, and I have dash skill now! Heh. My magic skill point went up as well .. which was a bonus)

Both of us flaunting our Epaulets, with Zero equipped with Epaulet of Guardian +3, which gives additional +5 Defense, +20 Defense Rate and +50 HP and Eli equipped with Epaulet of Sage +3 which give +5 Magic, +20 Attack Rate and +50 HP. Someone called us superman and superwoman ... that was kinda funny. =)

Progress Report

I have been playing CabalSea for about a week now and I am not too sure how I feel about the game. The graphics are definitely a turn-off for me, having been spoilt by games like RanOnline and Granada Espada. Then again, I have survived games like Last Chaos and JX2, so game play must make up for the lack of GFX.

Here are some comparisons for reference:

The good:

A lot of skills to play with. Points can be added and subtracted without having to reset skill points. Simply pay for removing skill points or the skill itself.
No need for grinding, at least for the first 40 levels. Just do all the quests given by the NPCs and they are more than enough to level you from 1-3x.
Own pace, own target. Quests are solo tasks, for now. You will be too busy doing quests to really grind.
Skills animations are good.
No reliance on a single class. It can be liberating not having to rely on priest/healers for support.

The bad:

Only 3 towns (Bloody Ice, Desert Scream and Green Despair) with really small maps. Gets a little claustrophobic at time, even with 2 servers and 30 odd channels.
The quests that request for one special monster. Even with so many channels, ks-ing are common when everyone is around the same level and there is only ONE monster.
The never-ending quests that seems to call for you to kill the same type of monsters. Need a bit of variety. But it is highly unlikely due to the size of the maps.
Lousy graphic. It can a bit of a turn off, especially in dungeons and NPCs' rooms. You can't zoom out and it can get irritating.
6 characters sharing 3 set of amours. The armours do not differ much with each upgrade, just slight change in design and colors. Cabal need more hardworking designers. Haha.

Diary of a Force Archer

Listed below are the current skills that I am using for my Force Archer (@ level 33). I like critical and explosion shots a lot. Knock backs are good for ranged character and Dash allows me to put a little distance in between the dangerous red ones =).

Sword Skills (Novice):
Dash - Increase one's movement speed for a short period of time.

Magic Skills (Novice, Apprentice and Regular):
Regeneration - Enables its user to naturally restore the HP even when in battle.
Critical shot - A basic long ranged magic spell that uses one's force.
Precision - Increase the caster's attack rank.
Repulsive Armor - Increase the caster's defense rank.
Aqua Blast - A basic magic spell that uses the force of the water.
Wind Blast - Summon a spirit of the wind to attack a target.
Lightning Blast - Summon a spirit of lightning to attack a target.
Explosion shot - Shoot one's concentrated energy to a target, causing an explosion.

Upgrade Skills:
Mana Mastery - Increase the amount of one's max Mana through spiritual meditation.

Special Skills:
Astral Bow - Visualize a magic bow using one's force.
Combo Start - A combo battle mode that enables its user to repeatedly hit opponent.
Battle Aura - Visualize an aura using one's spiritual force.
Multi Shooter - Enables its user to attack many targets at once.

So ... I only realized that skills can be learn from the the town's instructor today. How did I manage to survive 31 levels with the 2 basic novice skills and no buffs? I.Am.Good or I.Am.Dumb. Unbelievable!

To make up for lost time, I am proud to mention that I have 6 new sparkling skills now! HP Regeneration, Precision, Repulsive Armour, Critical Shot, Wind Blast and Ice Blast. Why is there a limitation of 6 magic slots .... I need more!

Seriously, I feel so dumb! This is not my first game! Blah.

My magic rank went from apprentice to regular at level 32. 3 more slots, yay!

I have probably mentioned Devilot a couple of times in this blog, but have neglected to explain her origins.

She was adopted from one of my former gaming buddy, a couple of weeks ago. He has gave up on 2moons, citing the constant lag and disconnections as his main grouse. And he thought that I might be interested to take over his segnale since I am always playing the healer role in the games we had tried. Thank you, Kamina-san! I love her much much!

She is definitely indispensable, tanking, luring and clearing for our leveling group. Right, guys?

After wandering around 2moons without a guild for the longest time (one of the criteria of being a botter here, they have not achieved the sophistication that GE's botters have), we (BSquid, Elielf and Devilot) finally took the plunge and took up ArrowStormZ's kind invites. What are the odds of playing a new game and joining a guild with the same name as your previous one? Yup, we are now trainees with Dominion :).

Beside changing to a leet staff, Elielf is also equipped with a new set of armor, Aquaris, with the exception of the head gear (that's a xmas hat if you can't tell) which she can't equip yet. Very nice, definitely a lot better than the Supia set. It's all thanks to Squid-dear who went around looking for the complete legendary set. :D

I am again experiencing extremely bad connections lately. It is most likely due to the high volume of traffic during the double experience period, but the frequency of the disconnections are getting frustrating. I wasted a lot of 10k dil doing Nunvice Shrine mission as I almost always dc in the midst of the 30 mins run :(.

New skills @ 36

All rightly, I am having so much fun using my new AOEs that I forgot to update the site. I have all the three elemental attacks, but so far lightning (lightning circle) and fire (fire fury) seems to work better. Mobs that are fast enough are able to cancel my ice attacks (ice storm) all the time. The area of the AOEs are also kinda small, so it is a matter of doing the right aiming in the midst of all this latency.

Good morning peeps! It's friday :). Time to let your hair down and do a little jiggle. In case you didn't notice, my Elielf is level 30! She is wearing her 3rd set of amour and level 30's staff (very nice ones, if I do say so myself), which is giving her lots of additional protection and damage.

Elielf is halfway onto her next set of amour, as shown from the screen shot above. I can't wait to wear my new top and head gear. My lovely Squid-san got me some nice equips!

I have been running around maps, trying out different places for leveling and found Heiharp, which is a snow-laden map. It is similar to Katovic Snowfield in GE. And both come with nice background music too. And most importantly, I don't see any PK-free summoners (at least not yet) here. I like :).

I find it funny that in 2Moons, when I level up a skill, it does not give me the extra information needed to decide if pumping more points is worth the investment. For attack skills; How much more damage it would deal, the maximum number of enemies it would engage if it is an AOE skill or the area of engagement. For buffing skills; The extra duration given or the percentage increase in the buff. For masteries; What does this do, I don't really know. Maybe I am too new to this game, but looking through the skill tree for passive and elemental skills left me feeling baffled.

What I do know is, I want to try out all the skills for the three elements. I have seen some guides which stress on mastering two elements, while others believe in a tri-element build.

Since I am at level 2x, I shall based my build on this (found here) for the time being:

1-10: To learn all 3 bolt spells, mana force lvl 1 and energy mastery level 1.
11-20: To learn all of the lvl 16 spells, keeping them at level 1. Gain seize nimbus. Add points into energy mastery.
21-30: Gain all lvl 27 spells, once again keeping them at level 1. Continue to add points to sieze nimbus, mana force, and energy mastery.
31-40: Gain all lvl 36 spells, keeping them at level 1 for now. Continue to max energy mastery, seize nimbus, mana force.
41-50: Begin putting points into lvl 36 AOEs. Seize nimbus should be maxed by now. Also max energy mastery.

In 2Moons, when someone stand beside you for a period of time, it could only means two things. Either (a) they want to party you or (b) they want to force attack (PK) you. In the case of B, they might be checking you out first, before launching an attack. Who would want to PK a high-level disguised as a noob, right?

I don't really mind getting pk. What I mind is the running I need to do to get back to the same map. That's when I always start missing RanOnline. With a buddy transmission card, deaths are never an issue. As long as you have a friend in the same map, you would be back in the blink of an eye. Although it is an cash item, almost all regular players in RanOnline would not hesitate to get one. It is that useful. If only all games have that. Bliss.

Oh wait, I think I need more friends in the game first!

Learn to speak in gaming tongues (Or get PKed)

I normally mind my own business in 2Moons, choosing to level alone rather then finding a party to join. At times, I will get invitations to join up with another player, and if I am not lagging too badly, I would accept the invites.

Yesterday I had an encounter which give me reasons to think why some games are p2p. You don't get idiots like you would in a f2p game.

Idiot: "Hi, paty" (I assumed this player want to party with me)
Elielf: "No thanks, I am lagging badly"
Idiot: "Paty"

So, at this point of time, I moved away from this "Paty" player to make my point clear in case he/she doesn't get what I meant earlier.

3 seconds later.

I got attacked with icicles which froze me on the spot. So being a non-confrontative type (Ok, I admit, I do not know the shortcut for PK-ing), I ran. And he/she chased. Icicles. Run. Icicles. Run.

So, there I was, pretty determined to get to level 24, in order for Elielf to be able to change to a better staff, but Mr Fat Green Pipe definitely has other better ideas.

After teleporting to Denebe and then running to Requies Beach, my poor mage with her tired legs can't seem to "connect" with the monsters she hits. All her attacks seem to be hitting the air instead and a couple of seconds later, I will find her dead on the ground. I logged out of the game after my third attempt to stay alive in Requies failed.

Today Mr Fat Green Pipe is all choked up.

Holy crap! Granada Espada (Under IAH) is going to be Free-2-Play! After so much hoo-ha about their business model months ago, they turned around and announced that it is going to be free after all. I wondered what prompted this decision? Maybe a Pay-2-Play model with an item mall is an overkill? Or perhaps it is due to the dwindling number of players in the game? Not that it matter to me, cos I will be seeing my gals again! Woot.

Heh, since I still have some gpoints left .. and with Bahia Island Royal Rumble Raid map coming up, I might be getting my gals some hawt bikinis!

I have surfed through some of the blogs that actively reports on GE's activities, and I am surprised by the show of discontentment even from their most hardcore supporters.

From my point of view, given that IAH is a fairly new publisher in the world of gaming, it would perhaps be fair to give them some room to breathe. They are probably learning how things worked as they go along, and mistakes are inevitable. When a company has investors, profits and losses do mean something. They have to answer to the ones supporting their ideas (monetary), and yet satisfy the many (players) that would either make or break their very ideals.

The 3-months free game play (for players who has a minimum level of 20 before the game went commercial) for Granado Espada probably ended a few days ago. Are you one of those affected?

I have opted for game points instead of game play when I redeemed my game codes from the limited edition box set. Thus, I am now officially not capable of logging into my Lothlorien's account. Kinda sad really, I do love my gals XD.

Incar Magician

I am currently level 19, wearing the 2nd set of Incar magician armour. So far, this game is like any other grindfest-type MMORPG; levels are needed for new skills, therefore one doesn't have much choice but to keep on grinding for the much coveted AOEs. ~~Incar's AOEs for the 3 elemental attacks come around level 27. 8 more levels to go!~~ Incar's AOE's apparently comes at level 36 not 27!

I have some problems with my cable connection recently. I either experienced high latency or disconnections from the game at night time. It's kinda frustrating but what to do ... that fat green pipe apparently is not that fat after all.

Just a gaming blog - Another new beginning

I realized from my previous gaming blog that an url formed using both your family (character) name and faction (guild) name is not exactly portable nor reusable. Thus, that explained the very unassuming url I have chosen for this blog. Ingenious eh?

Coming up with an in-game-nick is in my opinion the most tedious task before embarking on a new game. I was trying to get Lothlorien, Loth and many others without success. So here I am, using the IGN I have used in my first mmorpg, Elielf in 2 Moons. I am currently playing an Incar magician, breaking my traditional healer-only choice of character.

Since I have only started on the game a few days ago, there is nothing much I can comment on right now. I am still getting myself familiarized with the game play, so hopefully I will be able to write more later.
